Clemson nabs top 10 OL Pennington

Top 10 offensive lineman Dietrick Pennington out of Tennessee committed to the Clemson Tigers on Wednesday.

Pennington is rated the No. 1 recruit in Tennessee, the nation’s No. 9 offensive guard and the 131st best overall recruit, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. The 6-foot-5 Pennington chose Clemson over Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and LSU.

“I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play the sport that I love, and my grandparents for being there for me,” Pennington said in announcing his decision on Twitter.

Clemson’s commitment from the Cordova, Tenn., prospect moves the Tigers up a spot to No. 3 in the class of 2021 rankings, according to the 247Sports composite.

Pennington played at Evangelical Christian High School.
